Walking in Lisbon: the best tours

Start your tour at the Sé de Lisboa, the oldest church in the city and a monument with enormous historical value that is worth knowing. From there, follow the tram line passing by the Santa Luzia and Portas do Sol viewpoints, which offer stunning views of the city that overlooks the river.

Before we start, take time to observe the river, the Cais das Colunas and take the opportunity to go to the top of the Rua Augusta Arch which offers a unique view of the Tagus River and the square. Walk down Rua Augusta until the emblematic Praça D. Pedro IV (Rossio), while observing the Pombaline architecture of the buildings. In this area, you will also find the iconic D. Maria II National Theatre and Rossio Station. Walk towards Praça Luís de Camões, discovering the elegant Chiado neighbourhood and the Bertrand bookshop, the oldest in the world in operation. Take a break to rest in the historic café "A Brasileira", the favourite place of the poet Fernando Pessoa, who still accompanies visitors with his "presence". To recharge your batteries, we suggest you visit the Bairro Alto Hotel pastry shop and taste the various homemade specialties while enjoying a panoramic view of Praça Luís de Camões. 

If you still have the strength and desire to explore further, we recommend you go up to the São Pedro de Alcântara viewpoint, where you will have the privilege of enjoying one of the most beautiful views of Lisbon. To return to your starting point, there are several options, but we suggest you take the Elevador da Glória, or walk to Largo do Carmo, the site of the 25th April Revolution in 1974, and take the picturesque Elevador de Santa Justa. 

Belém is one of the most popular areas for those visiting Lisbon, as it has a wide variety of historical monuments of great importance and allows you to enjoy pleasant walks along the Tagus River. Here you can see impressive Manueline architecture buildings such as the Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery, which you cannot miss.
