It is told that Lisbon has 7 hills; it is also told that these 7 hills represent the cradle of Lisbon - places where the city has its roots. So, if you want to understand the real essence of the capital, you should dedicate this day to the 7 hills of Lisbon.

MORNING

Chagas
The name of the hill comes from its church -  Igreja das Chagas, built in honor to the wounds of Christ.

  • Praça Luís de Camões
  • Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea
  • Mercado da Ribeira
  • Cais do Sodré

Santa Catarina (in rehabilitation) 
The masterpiece of this hill is the Miradouro de Santa Catarina (viewpoint), that stands in the highest spot. This viewpoint, due to its statue, is also known as "Adamastor” - a monster mentioned by Luís de  Camões in his epic "Os Lusíadas” - a very important book written in tribute to the Portuguese discoveries.

São Roque
Another iconic hill, which comprehends one of the famous neighborhoods of the city: Bairro Alto, a unique place for lisbon nightlife.

  • Príncipe Real/ Jardim do Príncipe Real


AFTERNOON & NIGHT

Sant’Ana
Also known as the "Hill of Health”, due to the number of health institutions around it, Sant’ana is the most central hill of Lisbon.

  • Campo Mártires da Pátria
  • Jardim do Torel
  • Avenida da Liberdade

Santo André
It is said that D. Afonso Henriques, first King of Portugal, took advantage of the location of this hill to establish his strategy in order to reconquer the city of Lisbon.

  • Miradouro Sophia de Mello Breyner Andersen

São Jorge

The highest hill of Lisbon, where, at the top of it, stands the impressive Castelo de São Jorge (Saint Jorge’s Castle) - a fortification built in the Middle Ages, intended to be the last defensive stronghold for the Moors.

São Vicente
Recognized by the Catholic Church as the true patron of Lisbon, Saint Vincent is one of the major personalities of the city, and this hill honors his memory.

Sé de Lisboa
ONE DAY TO VISIT LISBON BY TRAM 

This is the perfect day to take the Tram 28 so you can discover beautiful and historical places of the heritage and the culture of Lisbon. During the route of tram 28, there are some spots you should appreciate more closely:
  • Graça
  • Largo das Portas do Sol
  • Miradouro de Santa Luzia (viewpoint)
  • Chiado (downtown)
  • Praça Luís de Camões
  • Estrela - Basílica da Estrela (Basilica)
  • Igreja do Santo Condestável (Church)

Boca do Inferno
ONE DAY TO GET TO KNOW PART OF THE LISBON COAST
