This is the year when summer festivals and events return to Lisbon. We missed them a lot and now more than ever it's time to sing, dance, vibrate and fall in love with the show. From music, cinema, art and opera, Lisbon has many options of events that will fill your summer with good memories and that are the perfect reason to enjoy and discover the city.

Music for all ears and tastes

Lisbon is the stage for various music festivals that energise and revitalise the city during the summer. From mega-productions to more intimate festivals, from jazz to rock, there's music for all tastes.

NOS Alive
Retaining its presence as one of the most famous and vibrant festivals in the country, NOS Alive returns in 2023 with the quality we have become accustomed to. This year it features names such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Keys, Arctic Monkeys, Lizzo, Queens of The Stone Age, Rina Sawayama, among many other renowned artists.

Kalorama 
Much more than a music festival, Kalorama is an event that promises to bring a "real, physical and unique experience" combining art, music and sustainability. After a successful first edition, the festival returns in full force this year with big names such as Aphex Twin, Arcade Fire, Florence + The Machine, Foals and Nu Genea.

EDP Cool Jazz
A flagship musical event with an intimate atmosphere where the public is invited to enjoy performances by internationally acclaimed artists. EDP Cool Jazz brings together music, nature and heritage, and is one of the most emblematic jazz festivals in the country. In the 2023 edition, it will boast performances by Norah Jones, Van Morrison, Kings of Convenience, Ben Harper and much more.

Jazz em Agosto
The Jazz em Agosto festival fills the ethereal gardens and the beautiful auditoriums of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation with music. If you enjoy jazz, this is one of the festivals you can't miss. Here you can enjoy performances by national and international musicians and experience the many expressions of contemporary jazz.

Sumol Summer Fest
Sumol Summer Fest celebrates its 13th edition this year. With names like Bárbara Bandeira, Mishlawi and Profjam, it brings the best of national and international music to Costa da Caparica. This event, characterised by the ocean air, is a true celebration of summer that you cannot miss.

Lisb-On Jardim Sonoro
Jardim Sonoro promotes the ultimate outdoor relaxing experience, with DJs and concerts in Lisbon's lung, Jardim Keil do Amaral. The festival combinates the nature feeling with the urban vibe to create a stage for various types of music: disco, house, jazz, soul, funk or electronic pop. With performances by all kinds of artists, it is a true celebration of talent, perfect for a summer's day.

Operafest
An event that guarantees the thrill of the Opera for all, in the unique setting of the Garden of the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga. From the great classics to the avant-garde, Operafest seeks to reach the most diverse audiences and provide them with the magic of opera.

Marionettes like you’ve never seen

If you like marionettes and the most diverse animated figures, then you can't miss the 22nd edition of FIMFA. A festival that stands out for its irreverence, it presents several creative shows, aimed at the most diverse audiences. Imagine, dream, and materialise is the motto of the International Festival of Marionettes and Animated Forms, which fills the theatres of Lisbon with life, from May to June.
