Discover the best spots to watch the sunset in Lisbon

 

Lisbon’s most celebrated natural wonder is its’ characteristic and welcoming light. With nightfall coming later and later, the city becomes especially appealing during the sunset. So that you don’t spend any sun hours picking and choosing the ideal location for your afternoons, we leave you some suggestions of where to enjoy the mix of golden and pink sunrays.

Rooftop BAHR

 

This rooftop is the perfect space to enjoy an unparalleled view over Lisbon and the Tagus River. It is also adjacent to BAHR Restaurant, a space that aims to be a showcase of Lisbon to the world.

Try the wide selection of snacks, appetizers and light meals while watching the sun set over the city in one of the most interesting places in the city, for its location, concept and inviting energy.

MAAT - Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology

 

This architecturally innovative and defiant building that beautifies Belém is visited by everyone, tourists and locals. As a cultural landmark of the city, it welcomes various exhibits and events. MAAT goes beyond its existence as a museum, almost embracing the status of monument. It is also visited for being an architectural marvel and a great spot for walks and for watching the sunset.

The riverside, also known as the "beach of the city", has a walkway that runs from Cais do Sodré to Praça do Comércio. As it has a very organised cycle path, it becomes the ideal place to go for a ride on a bike, a scooter or on roller-skates. The wonderful view over the Tagus makes this the perfect place to just to spend the late afternoon under the sunset, serenely, on a terrace.

Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen Viewpoint

 

It is a remarkable place, famous for being where the poet Sophia wrote many of her poems, one of which is even engraved on a bust that exists right there, in the park. It is known by locals as Miradouro da Graça. 

With panoramic views over Mouraria and Alfama, this viewpoint is located on Santo André hill. One of the perfect places to enjoy the late afternoon with a drink among friends and revel in the sunset.

Santa Catarina Viewpoint



It is the preferred destination of the younger generation, due to its terraces, relaxed atmosphere and location. Located in the Bica neighbourhood next to Bairro Alto, the best known area in Lisbon for a night out, this Miradouro, also known as Miradouro do Adamastor features gardens, a kiosk and live music.

With beer, wine or a soft drink, it's a great place to say goodbye to the sun for the day.

Amoreiras 360° Panoramic View

This is a viewpoint that, as the name suggests, offers a 360° panoramic view of the city of Lisbon. From here you can see the Tagus River, the Castle of São Jorge, the Tower of Belém and many other landmarks, monuments and views. For having such a diverse landscape, it makes it a wonderful place to watch the sunset, a place where the city can come to see itself.
